Hi all,

I recently purchased a frag of candy cane. It's been in my tank for around 3 weeks. I found it being dragged across the tank by an urchin a few days ago. It has failed to puff out again.

It is also turning white from the bottom up.

My tank has a fairly standard led strip with white and blue light. Could it be this?

Frag is in lower portion of the tank. Moderate flow

Im hoping it's not too late

Thanks in advance

That doesn’t look like it’s at the point of no return. I have had candy canes that have lost a head, leaving only skeleton, that actually grew back. It’s not a quick process. But if it were me, I would give it a quick dip in revive or some iodine to help it recover. I don’t think this is by any means doomed.

Thanks for the reply and glimmer of hope
Ill will pick up some revive and do as you suggested

It’ll be fine. Mine straight up died. Like D-E-D, dead. And now look at them. Took about a month from them to go from the death pic to that picture which was about three months ago. They’ve got like 20-30 mouths now but are slowly splitting heads still.

Did you do anything to help them come back?

Nope. FW dip and they died. Left the skeleton in my tank and about two months later they came back in force. Now they’re my biggest colony ans I can’t get them to stop splitting. They’ve got so many mouths they’re getting almost ball shaped.

Fantastic work. Was it a case of leave them alone or did you do anything specific like dips?
