Cannister filter

I have a spare canister filter left over from my freshwater is it worth putting it on my marine tank. I will have life rock with powerheads with protein skimmer or shall j leave it as that ?

Don't use canister on salt because you got clean it out like 3-4 a month. If you put more then enough life rock and sand your tank be good

Well cans are good for temporary carbons and chemical filtration.
so they can be useful if already on hand

Ok so I shall not bother . I haven't got live sand is this a problem? Uv bought some marine sand but it's not live is this ok? My lfs said it was for marine but it's not life

Just wait about a month before putting anything else in there.

You can use it like a reactor but just make sure you nitrites and nitrates don't spike
