Can someone give me some advice, I don't know anyone locally who reefs who can help me out. So I figured maybe by pictures someone could help on here. I have an aquaclear hob on the left and a powerhead to the right. I've tried different positions but can't find anything I'm really comfortable with. I had them set before and liked the position but found I was growing cyano from lack of flow to the bottom of the tank. It's a 6 gallon tank. I have since moved the position of the powerhead to face forward and not blow across the tank. I can see the cyano being blown around so I'm happy about that but I'm just not 100%. I just turned the light on to take the picture, so the corals aren't really out right now. Thanks

I would aim it at the middle of the front glass. This way it will blow the sand bed to kick up detritus to the filter and will give the rockwork and coral enough flow. My other option would to angle it left along the front glass to create a vortex.

Cyano will go when the tank fully matures, say 9-12 months.
Put the flow back the way you had it before.
Remove cyano weekly with a blast from a turkey blaster and siphon out until it no longer appears.
From the pic, cyano does not seem that big of an issue.
Keep nutrients matched, nitrate 2-10 with phosphate at 0.05-0.15

What type of powerhead do you have? What's the gph rating for the powerhead?
Its a top fin 30, rated for 118 gph. I hate the micro bubbles it produces but haven't been able to find anything comparable in the gph range. I had a koralia and it just blew sand around.

I'll give it a shot. I just glued down a couple corals yesterday and hopefully the change in flow won't be too drastic. Thanks

That's what I've been hearing but it's just so ugly haha. I'm trying to help speed up the process. It really isn't the biggest issue, I've seen much worse but om such a small tank it immediately grabs your attention when you look at the tank. I just bough a Hanna checker and got a reading of 0.00 from 2 separate, I thought it was a problem but was told it could be from the cyano eating the phosphate? Idk. Anyway this is a more updated pic of everything out and more extended.

What size is your system? Everything looks really great, wild colors and full extension.

https://www.reefbreeders.com/shop/jebao-sdw/ Get the smallest one, place an air hose in front of it and sit perpendicular to it and sideways and watch the bubbles, you can play with it to get it just right.

I am sorry to say that your pump is an accident waiting to happen the suction cups will give and the pump will fall in the sand and stir up and mess up your tank.

Yeah its not optimal. Just what I have for now. It Constantly is slipping down and I have to readjust it. I'll look into that pump
