Can't Win!

Yes, use a clean implement and gently remove them. I never hard mount plugs to rock work, because of this very situation. I either wedge them in tight, or they sit on the substrate. You'll do fine, we have faith. [emoji6]

I've not had experience with Furan-2 but coralRX and brightwell medi-coral have been effective for me. The brightwell product contains a little iodine and the botanicals to help with infections.

Many options, much advice. We wish you the best of luck and are here if you should need further assistance.

well i mounted them because no matter where i put them they fell to the sand. Just a ball of frustartion. Loved the zoas in the picture on the rock but they are now dieing off. Went to LFS but out of 3 stores no one has Furan dip, so i guess i'll have to order online. With my luck the zoas will die by the time it comes in.

What might work is Lugols solution. It's powerful, so use sparingly. They won't completely die off by then, but call around and see if someone has that in stock.

I think I saw it at Petblow aka PETCO, and at another big box store recently so there's that.

Petsmart, Petco, etc. all carry it. I'm very surprised none of the fish stores you went to have it. It is a staple.

Just pop the plug off the rock. Don't pry the zoas off.

ok i'll check petco and petsmart. If i can locate some do i take the zoas out and dip them and put them back in the display tank?

There's a procedure on YouTube. Just search 'coral dip' and take your pick. Make sure you've got clean unused soap free containers, and extra tank water. Mix the medication with one container per instructions, and have another with seasoned water from the tank. Submerge the coral and use a super soft tool to brush off detritus, and a new clean turkey baster to flush out.
Then dip in the clean tank water for a few, and place in the tank. Make sure you've got gloves on, and some eye wear!

also how do i dip? How much do i use to dip? It says 1 packet to 10 gallons. 10 gallons saltwater? or do you guys use less of the pack and do it in a bucket. I have a 10 gallon QT invert tank but it is used for my inverts obviously. If i took them out would the furan-2 medication kill off all the beneficial bacteria in the QT tank?

I would use containers dedicated to dipping. One for medication, and one for rinse. The cheap Gladware at Wally World seems to suffice.

As for the medication, use a little math, and figure out your volume. Then use the amount required.

When the zoas are closed up, do you see little white blisters? Furan 2 is the only thing I've found that works for zoa pox. You will have to be persistent. Treat all your zoas, not just the ones that show symptoms because it's very contagious. If necessary, take a hammer an chisel to beak off the zoas to treat them separately. I've had to do it. I kept thinking it was gone and it turned into a half year long battle, until I finally kept treating for weeks after it could see any pox.

I saw someone scraping them off with a dental tool. Kinda made me think of the zit-lady!
