My DT is 140 gal mainly sps, tank is doing very well and I keep an eye on all of my parameters.I'm happy with my alk cal aND MG levels.phosphates are kept low with gfo at less than 5.but my nitrates are 25 so I'm looking at ways to lower them i do have to clean my glass every other day and i have a small amount of red film algae in my rockwork.I've had the algae diagnosed and its not cyano or spirulina, just a regular one cell red algae.I've considers nopox but I'd have to stop gfo and over time it seems it would get expensive so I am considering other options, vinegar?vodka?what is the recommended route, just trying to improve what's already doing well

I was trying to find the discussion that was going on last week, about this very topic. I ran GFO with my NoPoX. I am currently running bio pellets and have had success. The start up for bio pellets is expensive but long term is cheap. Setting up a sulfur reactor in the least expensive way to go. Here is a link to a DIY sulfur reactor

Carbon dosing in general skews no3/po4 ratios. I find supplementing with calcium nitrate to help a lot if you feed po4 heavy foods. (plus the calcium helps reduce my 2part)
