Having recently introduced my male Carpenter Wrasse two weeks ago, and be it that he is doing wonderful, I'd like to work on TTM and QT over the next month for introduction of 1 or 2 more wrasses. Probably will be last fish added to my tank.

Which wrasses would be specifically compatible?

I have a medium stocked 75 gallon with 30 gallon sump and refugium. I have a sand bottom.

Current inhabitants:

Carpenter Wrasse
Kole Tang (mildly territory aggressive)
Spotted Mandarin Goby
Sunburst Anthia
Royal Gramma
Mated Pair Stubby Ocellaris

I have a larger tank than you. My carpenter wrasse is pretty alert. My dottyback harassed him some initially but has lost interest. The Kole Tang will sometimes dash at the wrasse but the wrasse avoids him easily.

I'd probably go with another flasher wrasse. I like the yellow fin flasher. Your Carpenters by itself may flash but with another flasher to show off to they both will be flashing.

Just about any other flasher wrasse would be a compatible tankmate. Notable exception would be P. octotaenia as they can be more aggressive than other flashers. Peaceful Cirrhilabrus sp. wrasses are also a possibility (refer to Evolved's article on wrasses stickied in this forum).

It's difficult to find female flasher wrasses, would adding male flasher wrasses from same and/or different species be ok?

Also, any Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus) will be compatible?? These will likely be male too...

Thank you!

Males of a different species will work.

Most fairies will work too, except scott's, whipfin, adornatus, pylei, roseafascia, and lanceolatus.

When adding new wrasses to established ones be sure to utilize a social acclimation box to reduce stress and aggression toward the new additions.
