Just thought I’d share my current situation.

Moved into our new-to-us house two months ago. Finished setting up my new WaterBox and finally got enough used filter socks to make a small washer machine load full.

I noticed the washer that came with our house had a self clean mode so I decided to run it before I put the socks in, which I’m glad I did.

Turns out I’m now on my third self cleaning cycle since the amount of soap buildup in the washer is still making suds!!!

I’m gonna keep running it until I don’t see suds anymore, so while I wait on that I thought I’d share this in case anyone else may have the concern I do that residual soap in a washer probably isn’t good for my tank.

PS...this is my first time every having a tank that uses socks, so again, I’m glad I ran that self clean cycle beforehand.

I wash mine in the washer with bleach only on the extra rinse cycle. Then I do a quick manual rinse before letting them dry, just to be sure.

That was my plan too. Didn’t think the washer would have so much soap residue in it.

I would put a cup of vinegar per cleaning cycle to help the cleaning.
