hey guys I have a nice size piece of mummy eye chalice that I’ve had a few months now and it looks healthy. It’s not close but on the same rock as other chalices that are doing great. It’s slanted and the under side of the chalice looks like the rim is receding a little. I can’t see skeleton or anything but at first it looked like there was a small ‘u’ into a part of the rim and now the whole rim has shrunken in a little. Like I said before it’s only the under side that’s in the shade on the slant and the other chalices are perfect.

Params:
Reefer 350
2 mp40’s on each side of the tank at about 40%
2 15w gen 4 radions @ 42%
Fallow tank due to velvet but I dose amino acids and drop a few pellets every other day to feed the snails.
Alk was at 8.5 but just brought it to 9.0 over the last 3 days
Calcium 1390
Mag 1460

My one concern is that there is a large emerald crab in the tank that I put for bubble algae but I have never seen him mess with anything. Plus it’s only the underside which makes me think he’s not at fault.

Any ideas!?

All my chalice are light lovers and if there is a shaded area, that may be why. Additionally how it is receiving light may be changing the shape allowing to have that area. I have mine in moderate lighting and moderate flow. (not dim light or slow flow)

I keep a bunch of different chalices and find that when they're small the growth is generally faster on one side than the other. it's when they get to 2-3" that they begin to evenly grow in all directions.

That sounds a bout' right
