i'm just curious about how many of you have your chalice or some of your chalice up high right under the lights with your acros. i have all of mine mostly hidden from direct light under cliffs and such. i have browned out or even bleached my chalice's before putting them in to much light so i worry about really moving them out further. i have a 120 with an 8 bulb tek full of sps. i seem to have to take it easy with most montis and some sps so putting my chalice's up there scares me so i don't even try to slowly move them over time to try. the reason i ask this is because i see pics all the time with acros and all up top high growing like crazy with beautiful strong colors. another question i have is are there any colors that are more apt to take the high light. i know this wouldn't apply to all chalice, but i do notice a lot of these colors being bright pinks and such. thanks for reading. btw- par levels are sand-150 ish, mid tank 250 ish and 4" under surface around 450.

Chalices in general are just low light corals and there are very few exceptions. I have some chalices that I swear would do better in my sump because of how little light they need.

I have Cornbred's Bubble Gum Monster, BeakerBob's Original 4-Color WM, Coraldiva's Blue Magic, LE Miami Hurricane, LE Bubble Gum Monster, SDguy'S Pink *******, LE Criminal Minds, and 2 un-named colonies as high as some of my acroporas. Currently they all are doing very well.
After a new chalice is acclimated to my tank, I place it wherever I would really like it to be. After about 2 days I can see signs of stress caused by light if there are any. If the chalice does not show any of these signs, I leave it alone.

BillyC- That is funny because I actually did that at one point and the chalices colored up,hahah

Is love to see your tank one day. Your more then welcome to stop by and check out mine if tour ever in the area. We were at the beach in your town this past Sunday.
