So I have some cyano in my tank so I went and bought some ChemiClean. Its been about 24 hours and im not noticing a difference. I just recently put my powerhead slightly out of the water to create more bubbles, because it says you need to INCREASE oxygenation. Is this going to work? Or do the bubbles need to be coming from the bottom or smth?? #reefsquad please help

It takes some time.

Make sure your skimmer is either off, or overflowing and not collecting. Probably can't run carbon either.

Is my method acceptable though? Because I dont have an air stone or smth like that, so i just used my powerhead to make bubbles. Good or not?

It takes time. I only had a few blotches in my tank and it took around 3-4 days for it to completely clear out. I kept my skimmer on (with drain plug removed) so that it continues to oxygenate my water but the water returns to the sump.

Be sure to do the every 48 water change and re-dose after those water changes.

When I've used it in the past, I just took the skimmers collection cup off and let the skimmer overflow for aeration.

You should see tiny micro bubbles in your entire water column.

You need to turn off your UV sterilizer if you have one too. I’ll take about 2-4 days to see result.

Yes, let it run for 2-4 days and do a 20% water change and add some carbon.

That’s a good way to get more oxygen in tank.

did you siphon some of the cyano out before you used chemiclean?

I siphoned as much cyano out as I could and then used it. 2 days later the cyano was all gone and I did a big waterchange.

Pulled skimmer cup off, took out carbon, MP40's and Cor20 on 75%, turned off UV

Cyano was gone overnight in a 220 gallon...a fellow Waterboxer in Texas did it the other day and it worked overnight for him as well.

I had a pretty bad outbreak too...on the rocks and sand.

i just ran chemiclean on wednesday left my skimmer running but took the collection cup off by friday all the cyano was gone it worked amazingly well did a water change yesterday afternoon and finally got my skimmer to settle down last night

Works everytime I use it. Take the skimmer cup off and let it overflow creating aeration. Also, take your UV and GAC out of service if you have any. Give it 72 hours and do a water change. Repeat if needed. Mine usually cleans up in 24 hours.

Oxygenating the water is needed not so that it will work but for your livestock. It will significantly reduce the amount of oxygen in the tank. Sometimes it just takes a little longer but every time it has worked for me.

Yes, you will siphon some of the sand out too. Not much though, just the stuff that’s attached to cyano.

But you can rinse that sand off really good for a while in fresh water till it’s clean, and put clean sand back in tank.
