I have been using chem pure elite. It does keep phosphates down but my water has always been clear. My acros have held color better as it is tuff in a 12 gallon tank. So i think it is worth it if you have a small tank as it is only 7 dollars and i would spend more if I bought phosguard and carbon.
I've been using chemipure elite for a while now and always have crystal clear water
I use Chemi pure elite in both my nanos, I like it! Seems to keep the water clear if nothing else.

I use Chemi pure elite as well and love it phosphates stay low to none at all water stays clear. and you dont have to change it as often! Great product.

Changed from Seachem phosguard and Seachem carbon to just using Chem Elite. Water is clearer, no leaching of phosphates, and all my acros have responded well and seem happier imo. Only down side was the amount I spent.

Thanks guys..seems everyones reviews are pretty positive with this. I just put two "units" in the sump for my 220 and I know its hardly enough, but its what I ordered for now, haha. I've always run carbon and gfo in reactors, but after adding the Chemipure Elite the water seems much more clear.
How are you guys running it in the tank? I put one bag in my filter sock where the tank drains into the sump and then the other in a reactor that I took carbon out of. I plan to buy the big bag of it next time but not sure on the best way to run it. I'll probably end up getting one of the big BRS reactors to run it in.

A full unit seems to be too much for my 47g. I had to pull it because several of my SPS (Red Planet and Ponape Birdsnest, to be exact) began to bleach pretty badly. I went back to regular carbon and they have regained their color.
I really did like the water clarity though. I will try a half unit next time.

1 of 3 units I purchased I'm using in my 29 gallon sump for my 125. Mine is just in the water flow prior to the return. IMO, just under the recommended is what my corals prefer so that I'm not stripping the water ''too'' clean. I'm glad you brought this up as my system will be transferred soon to my 240.

I'm not worried about being too clean on my tank since I have no coral 
The clearer the water the better to see my fishies, haha.

Really better to keep separate, as carbon exhausts after 2-3 weeks while the GFO may last more than 6.
Either way, without a reactor, a nice combo in separate mesh bags would be the recommended amounts of GAC, GFO, and purigen.
That way u can change out the GAC and still leave the GFO in for much longer. Purigen can stay in until it turns dark brown.
Also never run purigen in a reactor..
To buy these upfront will cost more, but a container of each will go further than a container of cpe.

The bottle on ChemiPure says that it will last 4-6 months as opposed to the typical timeframe for carbon (2 weeks) and GFO (4 weeks). Kind of interested to see if it actually lasts that long. Even if it does, a container of carbon and GFO would still be cheaper.
I'm all about convenience, so it Chemipure actually lasts longer it would be worth the additional costs for me.

I run my chemi-pure elite for 3-4 months. With normal carbon (lignite from BRS) I change it every 2-3 weeks. So for my small tanks, it saves money.

I should have added in my previous post, when I took the full unit out of my 47g because it "worked too well", I dropped it into my 10g QT.
Talk about cleaning up water in a hurry! If one has a small QT with only HOB filtration, a bag of chemipure is a good deal.
