Cheto dying help

Long story short I had a ball of cheto in my sump. Led light from home depot run about 8 hours a day at night. With in the month it took off. The whole fuge was filled. I checked on it the other night and its all dying. It brown and soft and stringy. Theres not much green left. Does anyone have any insight on what the heck happened?

Nitrate 0
Niteite 0
Phosphate I ran out of test but I do have a little algae

Nothing changed really. Same water changes same salt same everything. The only thing that changed is a I did have some bigger peaces of live rock in there as well and I did take them out for my other tank. Could this have changed something?

The Cheto processed all the nutrients. Add more food for the fish.

I do not think so it still had some room

That makes sense never thought about it like that duh

Have you ever thinned it out at all.once a week you should grab a chunk and discard or give to friend it will keep it growing better by allowing for new growth.

I will try to see if I can get it to re grow and the ill do that for sure

Or iron maybe, but the only cheato i experienced dyeing it turned brittle broke apart or turned white. I need to look into iron too. my cheato grows it just could be greener. I think if its still growing then it has enough nitrate and phosphate just needs something else better light or other nutrients.

Oh man I just noticed today my cheato is dying, breaking up into pieces,going to try and save it tomorrow with some kinda iron supplement. I had harvested a lot of it and changed a bunch of things on the tank. I ended up pulling some rock i had in the fuge when i harvested it too, so i could clean the detritus up now my cheato is dying and my quarantine tank wont be up until January
