Chinese LEDs thread.

The epistar are just square looking leds. Very different then what most leds look like. which light did you get? Mine is the 120w dimmable leds in the black metal housing. I have then about 8 inchs from the water. But I also made the bracket adjustable if I needed it. I have a glass cover on the top of my tank since I've had a few jumpers (one which has jumped twice and put back in, he's still alive lol) so I guess that's why I have my lights almost full 100%
I got the 165w with the black housing. Here is the link

I have two of the 120w. from oceanrevive on my 120 gal. just starting softies. so far all is good but these lights are powerful. I have the whites at a little less than 50% and still get a little brown algae on my sand.

I use ocreef optimaxx 120w led, Heat Factor: Built-in cooling system automatically keeps the light running at optimal temperatures. Generates a fraction of the heat of a metal halide and T5 system.Controllability: Built-in controller allows control with the touch of a finger, and comes preprogrammed with seasonal programs, or set it to your liking manually, or use a third party compatible controller, for programming to create a realistic dawn-dusk, daylight and moon-light simulation. Intensity is adjustable from 0% to 100%.

It isn't only the white leds that are causing the brown on your sand. The more serious issue is probably too much food (nitrates and phosphates). I have 2 OR S026s over a 65g (4'x2'x14") frag tank and I run mine at 90% blue and 75% white and I don't have any algae issues at all. You should ask the guys at OceanRevive about it. They have been a huge help to me.
