I am new to using a filter sock on my tank, and have been cleaning it by hand (scrubbing and scrubbing the sides of it together) and it really is a pain. Is this the only way to go about cleaning filter socks or is there any easier method??

I rinse mine off with the hose to get most of the particles off then into the washing machine with a little bit of bleach and double rinse. Works like a charm

I flip mine inside out and send through the washing machine without any detergent. I have 5 or 6...and let them pile up until I only have one left. I let them dry for a day...flip back out and they are ready for duty. They last about 3-4 days on my tank...

Socks are a pain...

+1 but only use them a few days a month or when doing maintenance like blowing out the overflows with a Turkey Baster.

Cheers, Todd
