Hey guys, just a quick question. That tank is a fluval 13.5. Pretty much stock. I added 13 lbs of life rock and 10 lb sand, and the tank has been up about a month.

Cycled with spira, all went well, only have a clown, two small hermets, 8 narsus snails, a Xenia, and a few mushrooms and polyp frags. Taking it slow. I had a copepod explosion about a week and a half ago, and added 5k more from algae barn (ordered before the explosion)

Oh and I have a small refugium with chaeto in the back (marine land breeder box.) I also have the Jb Wavemaker.

The tank had diatoms, the brown stuff then all of a sudden they disappeared.

But now my tank is cloudy? All the water is testing great, everyone healthy and I feed the clown so slow nothing hits the ground.

Is this a normal phase for a tank to go though? It has been a while, bout 3 days if this. Phosphates are almost undetectable. I change 30% water a week. (No skimmer)

Sump will be added when I finished making the stand.

Sorry so long winded. Should I just ride it out? I took out the huge sponge and just run wool/carbon and a little purigen.

????

Thanks in advance.

Given the age of the tank, and that everything seems to be doing just fine, I would just ride it out as you say. I think many if not most young tanks experience things like you are experiencing (possible bacterial bloom.).

That is what I thought. Just wondering if I was missing something. I am in no hurry to add anything, just a frag here and there is there is a deal at the LFS. Thanks. Working on a stand and then I will add a sump.

This crap is waiting for me to finish the stand. Bought a ehopps Nano overflow. Might even use a 20 gallon sump for a 13 gallon tank lol.

Sounds like a plan to me my next tank build is going 90g on a custom Cherry stand an hood that were once trees on my bosses back 40 there are pics of some of the stuff we do in that thread I'm goingbto try using my 40g long as a sump because it's old and scratched up so go big or go home.

I just found something that works great on the to trim the ends that are too long of candycanes I forgot to bring the Dremel tool home from the shop so I nipped about 3/8" off of a long one with a pair of PVC cutters and it worked perfect nice clean cut no chipping or crushing of the exoskeleton, then I straightend up the cut on one that is maybe 5/8" an it worked pretty good but not as clean as on the smaller one.
