Complete newbie here...

It's live rock...We just finally placed it and are still getting it all together. They didn't say anything about curing it. I think I had asked him if it was cured and he said yes. LOL I'm going to paint the stand a charcoal grey to go with our decor better. It's definitely going to be a long process.
Ok, Keep an eye out for hitchhikers if you see any there is a Hitchhiker category on the forum to help you Identify and see if it is good or bad. There are also may good videos from people like @Bulk Reef Supply that you can watch for for more information and watch them build different tanks and do different experiments.

>api master test kit- I would change that to Salifert for accuracy

>refractormeter= Milwaukee MA887 Seawater Digital Refractometer, you cant beat digital lol

>ammonica search badge to just place on the tank= Seachem Ammonia Alert

>metroplex, kanaplex, any other treatments? I don't treat fish right away until I see signs but everyone does this different. Ich-X has been my goto and had great results. Get yourself a cheap 20 Long at Petco, they might have a dollar per gallon sale going on.

>coppersafe=Seachem Cupramine Copper, I have used copper in the past, you will need to get a copper test kit, Salifert again.

>prime? Get a RODI unit, I believe its a must-have in the reefing hobby.

Just my $0.02

I just want to clarify having prime on hand for emergencies (power outage or some situation that you get a spike of ammonia) not to make the saltwater. I'm sure you already have some because you have freshwater anyway. I have some on hand all the time just in case.

My husband has owned tanks for years but never saltwater. We decided to give it a try after discussions with the local marine aquatic store.

I have been reading books and doing research but still feel overwhelmed. Right now we have a 150 gallon fish tank and just had the aquatic store set us up with the live sand & salt water they make. We got 100lbs of live rock and started the cycling with the fritz turbo start last night. I have a list of things I *think* I should buy to have on hand and want to know others thoughts on if I need these items right away or not.

>api master test kit- should I start testing now and should it be once a week? local store is going to test after 4 weeks

>refractormeter

>ammonica search badge to just place on the tank

>metroplex, kanaplex, any other treatments?

>coppersafe

>prime?

Also, if we start a quarantine tank how do we know a fish is sick? Anything else besides signs of spots or slow movement?
Welcome R2R. You found the right group to come to for great info

Needs to be cleaned and all that.

Please please please read about fish disease and proper QT. You’ve got some time now while the system cycles. If the LFS used live rock from their system, you can almost guarantee that there is already ich in your tank as well as other hitchhikers both good and bad. Don’t listen to anyone that tries to convince you that there is ich in every tank and that it is inevitable. None of those people will refund your money when things start dying. There is no ich in my tank, but I learned the hard way. HumbleFish is the local R2R fish disease expert and has many useful disease threads. I suggest you read up on his methods.

Welcome!

The bulkreefsupply RO/DI units are great IMO

It was weird for me to think I needed one, but its really the first step when getting started. You have a decent sized tank so you need quite a lot of water. 7 stage would be ideal.

You've come to the right place, good luck and happy reefing!

Welcome- that tank looks great! Lots of room for corals to grow and for fish to swim!

Welcome to R2R! Nice area of the country even if the water is "hard". I was in and out of Armstrong Lab at Wright-Patt several times over my Air Fore career. You have come to the right place for advice I think. And I agree that number 1 on that list should be RO/DI and number 2 should be quarantine. Check out Melvsreef for RO/DI as well. He has the best "how do" video I have ever seen for setting up the unit from start to finish regardless of where you purchase it. Good luck with your build. Many on here will tell you that nothing good happens fast and bad things can happen very quickly. Patience is key.
