I just dnt hve much time for this hobby...it's just not much fun no more trying different stuff and collecting rare variety .....I hve been really busy with my work and with the new born its taking all my time ...I hve been through already 1 major crash couple months ago where my kalk reactor pooped and back siphoned kalk in my sump while i was gne on vacation killing 70% of my sps .....I want this tank to be run much cool and pretty much on its own not with my massive halides when I no longer need em ...my plan is to acquire few more softies leathers and maybe nice clams and photosynthetic gorgos and than them grow on their own but no sps ....tank was doing so good with zeovit but after the crash lost the interest and took that offline also ...
My concern is too run my tank cool with LEDs where I can save some money on my electric bill but not running 400 watts of halide bulbs ....any recommendations on what should I get ...tank has kne carpet anemone on one end and a large clam ..it's gne be pure softy and some lps covered tank ....
I am thinking maxpects or radions ...
How many I can I get away with this tank dimension...
Tank dimensions r 72x36x24

Man, sorry for the losses. Now, not wanting to jumpin hour thread with diff ideas, but since you are trying to lay low and just have the tank get by for a while until you can invest time again on it, why don't you get some t5s?
I say because you will spends lots of money on leds and to get coverage on a tank that size... The electric bill will be less and also heat will be less...you will be covered with a light that will keep all coloration of the corals as well...

By the time you miss the hobby again, and trust me, that time will come, you will have more options on LEDs....ATI is coming out with a sick light that mixes t5s with top notch led technology...you spend. Now on Radions, in 3 months a new generation is out and you will want the best light then selling what you have and spending again lots of $

I just put two Oephec PR-156w leds on my tank which is 5 foot wide by 21" deep. They are not cheap but i believe in the long run they will pay for themselves. So far i am really enjoying them and my corals seem to be very happy.
