That's all it takes to grow pods? Will the nanno phyto work for the food supply? What do you use? How long does it for them to reproduce ? Sorry for all the questions, you got me ready to do this.
Your nano phyto would probably work great. Its close to natural live food than phyto feast. There is an article somewhere on the web that explains the life and breeding cycle. I don't have a link to it right now but the study was done by one of the major universities. A google search will probably work for that. Good luck. Its not that tough.

It really is pretty easy once you get em going :)

I originally only started collecting them as an additional food source to feed the coldwater pipefish I collect out here. I stumbled upon them on a collecting trip and took home a rockstar can full of them. They started breeding out like crazy, and the more I neglected them the better they did, lol.

After that experiment, petitioned the department of wildlife to add them to my collecting permits so that I could legally harvest them for sale to the public. I think I've only had to collect them 2 or 3 times since I took the original cultures, and that was just to make sure I had new genes in the pool.

Nice to see you Stu. Been sending folks your way. Those little black crabs you sent me home with? Well The one I put in with the puffer and he pinched the puffer on the nose and made him puff. Has been living under a rock ever since. I never thought he would live in warm water. The others are still in a bucket in the garage.

Glad the scallop did the trick on the butterfly, and thanks for referrals :D

Lol, I bet the puffer wasnt expecting a fight :D You can always "modify" the crabs slightly to prevent injury to your fish. I've had to do that a few times just to get small octopus to start eating after being caught.

Those little crabs can stand some pretty big swings in temperature, thats cool though that he's holding his own in there. Let me know how long he lasts, that'll be good info to know in case anyone else wants to feed live crabs to any tropical fish.

"I thought I would post about my experience cultivating pods.
I purchased some Tigger-Pods from a member of CORA (Central Ohio Reef Aquarists) and started trying to grow them.

Its been several months now and so far I think I have done well.
For those that came to my meeting so the small containers with pods in them.

I took an 8 ounce bottle of water filled pods and split it into two containers.
I then added new fresh saltwater to fill the containers. I marked the containers so I could add fresh water when needed.
Every week or so I would add a piece of flake food. It is said they eat the bacteria off the flake food.

Every few weeks I would dump 50% of the water into my tank and then add fresh saltwater to what was left.
This would split the pods and also clean the water aka water change. I usually do this at night so the fish do not eat the pods.

Today in order to produce more pods I purchased larger containers. I now have 5 containers growing pods.
My goal is to over run my tank with pods. Mainly because I have 3 animals eating pods."
