So bare with me as I try to describe what I think I would like to do with our 125 gallon. I plan on doing a sump in the stand mainly for filtration, skimmer and the heater. Unfortunately the tank is not pre-drilled, but in the past I have ran overflow boxes on 55 gallon tanks with no problem.
But this is where it gets a little crazy.
So I am thinking of getting a tank and grow the various algae in it, deep sand bed, mushrooms and what not. I know you can get algae in different colors and shapes.
How would I go about getting the refugium side tank to overflow into the DT that would be right next to it? Another overflow box? What I would do is have the DT flow down into the sump in the stand, then pump from the sump up to the side refugium and it would be one big loop. I would like to build this mainly for pods, and maybe a sea horse house? As the pods/bugs would naturally flow into the DT.
The space I have is about 4-5 feet.
I have read that the refugium is best to have high volume, but low turbulent current. Correct me if I am wrong.
I am open to ideas, suggestions good or bad.
Yes call me crazy ...
