So i work at a lfs and we pulled this out of one of the tanks. This thing is crazy looking any idea of what it is? i thought it was some type of hydroid but not sure.

I'd have to put that thing in a sump till I found out what it was. Was it attached to a rock? Will it eat?

LOL, it's probably upside down and a torch or nephthea of some sort? if the "brown" were the roots, why are they growing out of the stalk?

It's an Anemone. I use to have this. it elongates when hunting for food and when trying to relocate. Fed it with shrimps.

****aki mushroom from the grocery store maybe?

Reefing is like a box of chocolates, you never know whatcha gonna get!

The only problem i had with it was feeding. It moves very slow and food was almost always robbed from it by the other inhabitants. I had to schedule feeding just before the light turns on while its companions are still asleep. it is also the time that its mouth is extended and open. Although most of its companions are still asleep I still have to wait until the food is completely swallowed since the nocturnals like my shrimp and lobster are highly active during these pre-illumination.

wow thats pretty cool thanks for the info my friend ended up taking it home and putting it with his mantis
