CUC in back compartment?

I was thinking about throwing a couple hermits into the back compartment of my JBJ 30RL. Anyone doing this? Seems like a lot of detritus accumulates back there.
 
Yes I have done it. Really doesn't help much. Whatever goes in the crab does come out. I just wound up siphoning it any way on water change day..
 
Reviving this old thread with the same question. Salty makes a great point above. For my situation, my refugium light causes some slime algae to grow around the chamber. Seeking opinions on whether a snail or other CUC memeber back there would be a good idea. Thanks!

 
My choice would actually be stomatella and pods. Plus the reefer of course, ime.
At a point , what goes into the cuc does come out.
