Man that thing looks pretty sweet. I was thinking of doing that but I need more room. A 40B isn't big enough but I want something that has the same height as the 40. Just longer
How do u have it running from left to right? Is there a fuge or no?
How long did it take u to make? Did u silicone everything or use something else??
Wow, I wish you were closer, I'd pay you to make me one!Well, I am a procrastinator. So, it wasn't like I started it and stayed on it until it was completed. While I did draw out my original concept, there was no measured plan that I followed. It kind of evolved over time. A lot of time just sitting there with me thinking how I wanted it.
I work with glass. I am an old timer and I like that when cleaned, glass will look brand new years down the road. Acrylic, not so much - unless you are very careful with it. Cutting ¼" glass to me is simpler than messing with a table saw and cutting acrylic. Measure, scribe and break with special glass run pliers (cheap) a quick run over the sharp edges with sandpaper and that's it. Kind of a lost art these days. For the larger parts, like if I am building a sump from scratch or a nano tank, I have my glass shop just cut those to size, if I don't have enough scrap laying around. Baffles, overflows, etc., I cut myself. I even made a skimmer once out of glass. Ha!
I use only Momentive RTV 100 series for building. You can get it through Grainger's or Amazon, among other places. Not likely to find it at your local hardware store. RTV 108 is clear and RTV 103 is black. I use black.

Yeah I'll definitely look into that and when the time comes. I'll be looking back at this thread and getting all the specifics for sure. Really like your sumpHa! Well, thanks for your vote of confidence. You want something larger anyway. Maybe get a 75 (keep an eye out for those PetCo dollar a gallon sales) and build it from that yourself. Plan how you want it and you can always go to your local glass shop to have baffles cut. I use painter's tape to mask on each side of where the baffles will be (when possible) run the bead of sealant and then immediately remove the tape. Leaves a really clean edge and reduces your clean-up and trimming time. To me, planning and building is a large part of the fun I get out of the hobby.

Tried emailing both elite and synergy and no one got back to me![]()
