Where on bottle bac directions does it say you have to add prime daily

It's always something. Biology always lines up with free ammonia such that we could discern without testing. Something we can see and smell occurs with true free ammonia, no testing required.


Test kit misreads are more common than accurate reads regarding ammonia and cycling.

I would opt for option one prior, let it run doing nothing but topoff and light feed for a few days and watch the details, fish gill motion is your best ammonia indicator, never ever ever misreads


That and water clarity. Clouding is requisite, universally present in a true free ammonia problem cycle tank

There's a reason everyone's water is staying crystal clear yep


Two fish in sixty gallons w bottle bac and already living surfaces is guaranteed to skip cycle, your lfs is legit advising.

Clowns are pretty bulletproof they'll be ok

Two options that w work are just proceed on and wait about ten more days to establish normal feeding, add a couple corals etc. you don't have to add prime or more bottle bac and if you do add them not a problem

You can also do a water change if you want, still not having to add prime or bac since bac are stuck to surfaces now vs in the water column doing the majority of the work

Ammonia deaths due to lack of bac are fast, not slow. Overnite bad things w show in a tank we wouldn't need a test to see if bac are lacking, so we go off your tank biology now and not an uncalibrated test + prime, testing is unhelpful now but watching the system for bio indicators will never lie it's the best approach


You'll get keen on the real actions going on just off your intuition as you watch the tank, like when Luke was blindfolded, no API, and he still could sword fight

Considering i waited 30 hours to add prime yesterday and besides that one crab that isn’t moving. Nothing happened at all. Hmmmmmmmm and the clowns are very happy but i will lighten up on feeding i was feeding kinda heavy so the crabs had something too eat

You’re right about that if i recall it says one cap per 50 gallons =1pp is safe for 48 hours

I think I’ll stop using prime and keep with the bac just use the last of the bottle. Cross ya fingers lol we will find out by Tuesday

What about ammonia alert would prime trigger that too

We just don't use any test kits to cycle in our thread, they're just too all over the place. When everyone has a seneye then we will consider testing ha

considering my water is clear af and doesn’t smell I’m with you on this one. The first two days i had the tank it smelled like a swimming pool and now absolutely nothing hell ya would think it wasn’t salt water
