I have been testing my alk and cal Daily with my Hanna checker and I have noticed I’m using a lot more alk vs cal. My system is mostly sps but some mixed .
This is an illusion. The issue here is that daily Alk consumption is as large or larger than measurement error, but daily Ca consumption is much smaller than your uncertainty. So you have better quality data on Alk - but I promise they are both being consumed by the calcification process in the known ratio to form CaCO3.
What I mean is that you should dose balanced alk and Ca based on your daily average of alk consumption, and only bother measuring Ca occasionally to make sure it's approximately in the right range.
