DC Pump Users

I agree they're not the same. I got my Jebao 12000 for $80 and it has been great. I have another one for backup and still half the price as the others. Works for me. Others would rather spend more for better support, and I understand that, also.

Thanks for everyone's reply. I'd like for this to stay on topic of the noise issue, not which pump is better than the other. I was all set to order the Diablo as I feel that you do get what you pay for. But... It wouldn't fit in my return chamber so that was not an option.

I've emailed fish-street to try and get an impeller sent to me under warranty and I'm waiting for a reply. I do believe the chip taken out of the magnet is the cause of the noise as it's probably out of balance as Brandon stated. I've also emailed Reef breeders as I read they have replacement parts there to try and get a replacement of my own as a back up.

I'll borrow an impeller from someone in the club and replace it out and report back this week sometime.

I'm running a waveline and it's pretty darn quiet. I only hear a slight hum and that's only when I have the doors of the stand open and when I first turn it one after feeding. From there on it's silent while running at about 75% capacity.

Translation Please

Reply from Fish-Street on the noise...

Hi Ryan

We will send you a new impeller, but we found for you using a piston check valve on the system, it will make the DC pump over power to push the system

DC pump is not a AC Pump, if it weak on it, if using a check valve, it will have a sound when it throughout.

So, when you got the item, please let us to know is it solve, seen for last time have 1/3 customer cannot solve on it like for your connection

Thanks

Eric

At least they are sending me a new impeller.

Another reply

And then he tried to sell me this:

Hi

this one

Swing Check Valve

I using this without sound

Too bad I'm already using a swing check valve from BRS... :israel:

Hmmm... that's interesting... we'll see if the new impeller helps. If it doesn't, it may be worth opening all of the outputs of the manifold up (reducing pressure) and see if it responds favorably then.

Ok, awesome. I'm kind of glad to hear that as I am planning on using mine like this, too. :)

Update

Thanks to a local reefer I was able to install a new impeller and the noise is much better and a lot quieter. It's still not "silent" like I've read about but it's much better and I can deal with it. I'll give it a month or so and see if it quiets down once it gets slimmed up like others have posted here.

Here are the impellers side by side. Notice the one on the left the white plastic spacer directly above the magnet is crushed down.

In this photo you can see the spacer crushed down and the chip taken out of the magnet.

Here is the photo of the good impeller with the correct spacer

Here is the link to the video that you can see the slop/play of the clear plastic holder that has a lot more movement on the bad impeller than it does on the new impeller.

After adding the new impeller it's a lot better but not "silent" as I've read about. I was at Nate's this weekend and his diablo has the same noise so I think what I'm noise sensitive to others are not. I'm happy with it though. No vibration at all.

I was thinking about ordering one of these for my new build. Guess it would be good to order extra parts at the same time just in case.

Where are yall buying them from with good support?

And I heard a Speedwave (I think was the brand) and it's dead silent. Now I'm thinking my pump has issues but need to compare it to another Jebao first to compare. Got me thinking that I need to tear one baffle out of my sump so I can fit a different pump in there.
I can deal with mine but who doesn't like silent?

Ryan mine Isnt online yet If you would like to compare. I ran It In vinegar bath In bucket ,that Is as far as I have gotten.lol

I might take you up on that offer. I might just try and steal the one I already stole the impeller from though. I'll let ya know. I appreciate it.
