So my tank finished cycling just showing about 10 nitrate. I broke out with a diatom bloom about 3 days ago. CUC is 2 nasarius and 3 astrea snails. I have more coming from reefcleaners in the next day or 2. Tanks is a nuvo 30L.

Anything I can do to help this go away?

Using rodi water with Red Sea coral pro salt. Sand is carbisea Fiji live sand and life rock

Ya all tanks go thru that.. just be patient, don’t add any new Corals til it passes. Keep up on water changes and filters. Every tank varies. My 180 had massive outbreak after adding Tonga for 3-4 weeks. Then subsided my smaller tanks actually went a lot quicker. 35 and a 48 took a couple weeks. I do weekly water changes too though. You’ll be fine... all part of the fun.

Yep. Welcome to a live tank. Goodbye anything white.

Like everyone else already said - just roll with it. Really, part of the program. In fact my reef too is just starting a bloom and I'm actually excited. Tank has been cycled since the first week of March so I expected it sooner. However, with work and travel I left the lights off so the only light the tank got was from the window for a hour or so a day. Not much there. I moved my 40 breeder over about two weeks back, fired up the skimmer, and lighting, so now it is starting to happen. I have some snails already and hermits along with a lawnmower blenny. They will all be happy with the bloom I'm sure but it won't be enough. I've looked at some of the recommended packages for a 210 gallon tank and there is no way I'm putting in that amount of snails or hermits. They will plow through everything then slowly die off...but I may put a package together for 50 gallons. With what I have and that I'm thinking I'll be fine.

Water change is due anyway to lower my Nitrates (Pukani rock is a pain) everything else is fine outside me double checking the controller pH and salinity probes with what test kits report. But a
