Hi, all. The frogspawn shown in this picture was thriving for 10 months, and then took an abrupt nosedive and is all but dead.

Water chemistry is fine.

One change worthy of note is that the right side of the tank where this guy lives started getting a few hours of morning sun due to change in seasons. Could direct sunlight cause this?

I plan to move him to the other side, but first wanted to rule out chemistry so did extensive testing and a few water changes, but no improvement.

He went from healthy and happy looking to shriveled and pathetic, slowly, over the course of a month.

the soft coral on the bottom of the tank, on the other hand, is spreading like wildfire. I can’t even see the rock it’s attached to, anymore.

No.

Is that a peppermint shrimp in the last pic? Peppermints love LPS.
It is! Wow, I had no idea. We got the shrimp at the same time as the coral to eradicate anemones (which it did very well). Maybe he ran out of better options and decided to eat the coral? TIL

Exactly what happened. You are lucky he even went for the nems first, usually it’s right too the LPS, I am not sure why these guys are sold
