Hey guys im in the process of getting my tank all set up I got a 65g.... 36"x18 with corner overflow..so far what I'm going with is two jeabo RW-8..ehiem 1260 return pump... Ehiem 200w heater and I'm not sure if i should go ati dimmable or non? What are your guy's opinion on these?

6 will do sps EASY but might even be over kill.

My always recommend too is get a $15 lux meter. it measures light intensity. no not par, that $300.
and search the forum here on lux and how to ues it. youll be really happy you did.
youll want to target 30 t0 50,000 lux. & and 50 is on the way high side.

when you figure the intensity + the useable par from the color combo you put in a 6 bulb is capable of prob 700+ par. at that point acclimation is really important.
ill give you a lux reading on a single ati t5 super blue in a few when it warms up.

a single ati t5 super blue @ 4 in over the water is 9,0000 lux approx

it depends on what you want to grow. If your new, and dont want to dose and get complicated SPS stony corals 6 might be total over kill. esp if your looking at lower light corals like many LPS.
common prob. folks dont match the light to the corals, and you cant really combine ALL corals in the same tank unless you have a really deep tank.

My reccomend would also be save a few bucks on the fixture and get an led strip for the tank, youll like the little bit of shimmer it gives and the Pop is friggin cool esp after the tubes go out.
No one likes the current orbit pro(cheap used), it hardly grows anythng. esp by its self. But I have one in with my t5 and man its cool. ramps up in the am real slow before work, corals wake up and glow.
same at night. I have a 2hr blue only at night. and man is it cool.

So yea, 4 t5 dimmable and a ramping led strip will probably really make you happy.

Ok thank you very much.. I had a 30g jbj before this tank with a kessil A350 and yea i loved the shimmer but this time around I wanted to do some easier to keep sps since it will be my first time trying sps and then LPS

Ok cool thanks.. Was going to do the 36" dimmable but do I go with 4 or 6 bulb
The more bulbs the more color combo, all ati fixtures are good for sps depending on the amount of space between the fixture and the sandbed. I love my dimmable but i also got a pm, only difference is your paying the extra 100 for 1 powercord, auto bulb temp/fans, the dimmable option, and channel times witch to me is well worth it otherwise youd take up 3 spots on your apex or would have to be 3 timers that would cost around 60 bucks anyway (for a reliable one) but youll love it enjoy

Yea I'm deff going to be looking for a dimmable fixture I prefer 6 yes because of the color options but a 4 will do if it's a good price

In my experience when dimming bulbs they do not last as long and need to be burned in as well. I have a dimmable fixture, yet I run them at 100%. When I did dim I had bulb and ballast problems much more often on a ATI Hybrid fixture. I will admit that I did not always burn bulbs in.

yea save that buck. youll be getting into dosing. Im on my first sps tank, as my light increased and the dosing needs are becoming appearant.

Time to start looking at the for sale section
Dude i cant even tell you how much money i saved from the ati factory reload thread section on this forum take a look, litterally a tiny dent = a 300 to 500 reduction on some of the fixtures
