I'm getting a cooler full of coral tomorrow at a local frag swap.

I have never dipped corals before and I don't have a qt tank.

A lfs sells coralrx. Is it safe to use on all corals? Im buying sps, lps, and zoas for sure don't know about soft corals.

Also how do I dip them? I read I have to use a powerhead with coral rx. I only have the ones in my dt

Do I acclimate them first then instead of putting then in my tank put them into a gallon of tank water in a bucket or something?

I use Bayer Advance which can be found at Home Depot. Dilute one milliliter per 100 milliliters tank water. Soak your frags for 15-20 minutes in this dip and then rinse in a small container of tank water and then you're good to go.

Exactly what I use. I have dipped 1 zoa colony and a rock with 4 muchroom heads on it. Both opened right up after dipping and a little time in-tank before turning the lights on. Only thing I have seen on mine so far is aiptasia:cry:

Ok I will read up on it. hopefully it is cheaper than coral rx lol. I don't have aptasia issues I use aptasia x. I get them as soon as I see them and so far it works the first time

I think it differs depending on the source. One site I read said .5ml solution in 2 cups of saltwater. But I think the zoas I used a capful and the 'shrooms I used a little more but I dipped the shrooms in a bigger bowl. I haven't measured it out personally. The same site I read this on said dip for 15 minutes. I only did about 5 minutes I think. Then rinsed in 2 or 3 clean saltwater bowls.

Ok well I can't find the Bayer from the pic above on home depot Web site

Cheapest method is fresh water dipping all your acros for 20 minutes it should kill everything in the bucket.

JK JK DON"T DO THAT I WAS ONLY KIDDING lol

But yes I heard bayers dip actually does the trick very well. I hear you can also do clams.

I would assume to make sure the pests are dead. I got a critter in a bag from coral one time. Dumped it down the sink and turned the water on for a few seconds. Even washed my hands later on and next morning it was dead and back in the sink. Apparently soap and water didn't kill it immediately.
