So I walked into my room yesterday to find the hose coming from the chiller had fallen out of the tank and almost completely emptied the tank onto my carpeted floor. It took almost half the day to fill the tank with fresh Rodi water from the sink and add the salt to the tank as it went. Somehow, my clownfish lived through this ordeal despite the temperature and salinity changes and I managed to get the specific gravity perfect, eventually. Suffice it to say, the hose is now extremely secure.

Glad the fish made it through. A safer method may have been to place the fish in a container with some tank water, mix fresh salt in your mixing container then filling the tank and place the fish back in.
Depending on how much water made it to the carpet you may have to pull it up. I had close to 30 gallons of freshwater flood our living room when a tank failed. Our insurance ended up pulling the carpet to dry the floor then installed new carpet. They said there was no way to get the floor dry underneath the carpet pad without pulling it.

Glad the fish survived!

Thank God I have a carpet shampooer and it sucks up all that excess water.
