Display Refugium Ideas/Thoughts

As my tank is becoming a focal point in one of the rooms in our house, I would like to create a Refugium that will be on display. Could some of you who do this or others with ideas please share with me?

Also, we tend be slightly eccentric at my house so the wilder or weirder the better. This room happens to be steam punk themed, including my hood and cabinet for my tank.

One more thing, besides macro algae, what can I keep in there (i.e. Critters, inverts, fish, anything alive)?

It's rough, but here's the start

Please disregard the mess, my wife would kill me showing this. By Monday the walls will be painted and the top will be finished. This room is being "transformed" at this time. The top is made from an old bed head board
