Last night I biult 2 frag racks... nothing special just something for my self to do, plus I was running out of space.
I don't have great systems and I don't spend tons of money nor do I have great coral.
What I do have is love for the hobby.

12.97 for a huge piece of egg crate 2'x4'
1.94 each 2 Pack of suction cups

16.85 total to build a lot more frag racks

I went to HD and built this.

Yeah even if the metal is stainless it will still rust eventually. The walmart near me has some suction cups with plastic hooks in the hardware section where all the bathroom stuff is. You might want to switch them out for something like that.

same here and easy to move around
I do believe these can also leach metals in to the tank.. great idea. I am not sure on the whole metal leaching thing but that is what a owner of a LFS that is a aquatic engineer told me.

Nice set up except for the metal.

I had the mag float too as a frag rack, but too much tilt for me. I'll post pics, but a 10 x 6 piece of egg crate and a 12 x 5 piece of 1/8 acrylic and I made one. I took the acrylic and heated it up enough to bend it with a lighter. The bends were for the stability of the rack and a hook type to hang from the tank. 2 holes drilled in acrylic and 2 zip ties. Done! So far, so good. All pieces that I had laying around.

I'll try to resize the pics (being rejected due to size, my fault) and post them up in a bit.

I went down and took a look and thank all of you for telling me about the metal... I will take those out asap... they are beinging to rust... grrrrr...

This weekend I am going to revamp the second design... no METAL! Thanks again!

Tagging along, see some great ideas. I purchased an Eshoppes frag shelf only to discover that it's magnets will not work on my tank. Tank glass is 3/4" and I can't find any frag shelfs that will work with it.

Any ideas for thick glass?

Be careful with the eshopps frag racks. I read a thread where the guys whole tank crashed. He found out the coating on the magnets was faulty and they oxidized in his tank.

As far as diy frag racks i pretty much did the mag float version but with the cheapo Walmart magnet glass cleaner.
