Hello, my chaeto has been dying because I don't have an ATO at the moment so I'm forced to dump fresh RODI into my sump and that there is basically no flow. It is breaking apart into little pieces so should I remove the remaining chunks of it as it is probably going to decay anyways?

dead or dying chaeto looks sorta of grey, soft, wilted . may or may not recover but it will for sure add to your nutrients if you let it sit there. if it is firm and green it is still well enough alive, small pieces or not. up to you if you want to clean those little pieces up. i often clean up the small pieces too when i get the chance. they break away from the main ball sometimes.

I'd also top off a little at a time so as to not damage the chaeto as much
