DOS Pump for ATO

I'm using one of the DOS pumps in lieu of the ATO utility pump from the ATK. Are there any downsides to this use? Will this shorten the life of the pump? As I understand, people are using these pumps for water changes, so I imagine it would be okay to use them for ATO purposes.

I don’t hear complaints about the pump, only the sensors in the reservoir.
