Double stacked sump filtration. The upper sump (mud refugium w/chaetosandwiches) receives about 75% of water from MD overflows. Residual water, 25% from display overflows, goes directly to lower sump. Upper Refugium dumps into lower sump via gravity. 1 pump(on the right), 70 series, feeds the skimmer to the left on the picture with adequate operating water pressure, the other greater amount of pump output, turns over the displays volume at about 8/hr. This method has worked great for me, natural, no hassles, and easy to maintain. My idea of the chaeto-sandwich really enhances the growth of the chaeto. It also makes it easier to harvest it off, one side at a time. I get some store credit for the mat of chaeto I trim off periodically. One think to note, though, it does require a higher than normal tank stand height to allow for the stack set up to work nicely. I prefer my display tanks at eye level, standing up anyways.
