Is it possible for 2 rbt to kill each other without touching ?
Scenario : I had a small rbt happy and healthy added a second beautiful big one one a couple rocks over within a day or two of adding the second one both shriveled up and stayed lethargic looking for 3-4 weeks the big one I finally took out and put back in qt tank and he died the next day but the funny thing is the next day after I removed one my little one is back to full extension and looking better than ever my question is can they compete and damage each other without touching ? Or is it just an odd coincidence

No they can't hurt each other. Many people keep entire tanks full of BTA, and other certain types of other nems too. Have you checked your parameters? Any change in lighting or anything else? Any chance of a contaminant getting in?

@kodi3100 I'm doing a little extra research on this one, as @GHsaltie stated it's not common for two nems of the same species to cause problems, especially two BTA. That said I could buy, one being sick and slowly deteriorating the water qaulity then things catching back up once you got it out, especially if it didn't even make it 24 hours after you removed it.

No everything was solid I even checked the water from the lfs and it's very similar to what I run their sg was a little higher than mine but by very little it was just odd that when I added the second one is when they both decided to recede and act odd then when one is removed almost over night the original one came back

I thought that. It when I bought it , it was very healthy looking and even looked good in the qt tank then acted odd when they were in the same tank it's just odd I did research and figured two same species no issues ? Would it be possible for one to be sick and not show signs ? Color was good mouth tight good extensions everything looked good

You stated within a day or two of adding it to your main DT both Nems shriveled up. Essentially you changed something enough, be it water quality, light strength, PAR...etc that it was not happy. We don't currently know what causes nems to get sick other then "stressful events seem to cause them to get bacterial infections". From everything you described, it sounds like you needed to pull it out of the DT after 3 or so days of it not getting any better, stick it back in QT, determine whether it looked like you might need to treat it and figure out what was so different about your DT as opposed to where it came from. For example if you're using strong LEDs on your DT but it came from T5 system and your QT is weak LED, you could have upset it enough for it to shrivel...etc.

I see you're new on the site, but I never take that to assume you are a new reefer. Is this your first tank and how long has it been established?

You know I didn't think of that the qt tank is only some cheapie led my main tank is hydra 26 but I did put it on acclimation mode but that could have affected both the dimming affected the one that was already there and the brightness the new one I didn't take that into account
I am a new reefer tank is about 6 months or so but rock and sand came from a clean running established aquarium a couple years old water params are stable in both tanks I spend a lot of time to make the qt as close as possible to the dt but now the lighting has me thinking as a possible cause
