Duncan coral

newbie here. My buddy just gave me a Duncan with about 12 heads on a peice of tile, can I cut the Base of each of the heads and glue them to my rock work to arrange them how I want or will it harm the coral? the peice of tile is just kinda bulky and looks unnatural in my tank

12 heads...i wouldn't cut that up! Most are growing their coals to get to that level, lol.

Yeah it’s pretty big, he was moving over seas so he tore his tank completely down I just wanted to glue them to the rock so it looks more natural lol

I woudnt cut it up. Thats a great sized coral. What looks unnatural about large colony.

Duncan corals are easy to frag. You need to cut each head off as far away from the actual fleshy mouth as possible. An inch should do.

Since you say you’re a newbie, you might want to just frag a single head and see how everything goes and if the new frag is happy and healthy for a bit before fragging more.

Ok I’ll try one of the smaller heads and see what happens, what kind of placement do Duncan’s like ? What kinda flow ? Do you feed them ?

I have mine mid level with indirect flow so it sways with current and I try to feed each head maybe that’s why it grows so fast.

That's an awesome colony... I'd leave it intact! I've killed 2 single head duncan frags already... my system can't seem to keep them alive!
