Hello peeps. I am stumped with this zoas. I bought 2 zoas on 9/5. It opened the next day.

Since then it was open until yesterday afternoon. 9/6 to 9/15(9days). It was open in the morning but I noticed 1 polyp closed up. I though maybe the snail touched it cause I saw 1 nearby. but by the evening all polyps closed up(before lights out)

I have not made any changes on the tank except for fish food medication(metroplex and focus) but that was starting last night. so even before the medication. the zoas closed.

1 other thing I noticed this morning is my skimmer is running lean now.. its not producing those big bubbles. not sure why. I just give them food now and seeing that skimping a bit.

Water test:
ph: 8.09 (apex)
temp 78.2 (apex)
ammonia: 0 (api)
Nitrate: 7.5 (api inbetween 5 and 10; nyos in between 5 and 12)
phosphate: 0 (hanna not ULR) need to get ulr
Alk: 6.94dKh(hanna)

What should I do? Should I just leave it and keep an eye on it for the next couple days?
should I stop the skimmer?

PS: I think I lost the other zoa (dragon eye) cause I accidentally placed a frickin super glue on it :(

Forgot to add
Salinity is 1.025 with refractometer. just calibrated it with brightwell calibration solution

When I got them, I dipped them in bayer and coral rx. Have not done it recently
Carbon: yes. Not in reactor. Just mesh bag in the sump

Don't worry so much, corals are so much hardier than you would give them credit for.

I left a zoa frag in the garbage for 2+ hours on a paper towel, drying the thing out, and it opened up the day after i put it back in.

Super glue will not kill them either. try to break off the worst bits and they will grow over the glue.

give them time.

I would try a dip if ya can? It may help till someone here can help ya figure it out?

one of my zoas started doing this. I moved it down to lower light and it’s finally starting to open up again.

maybe try that after ya dip it.

I still have that dragon eye in there and been trying to clean the glue everytime I see something coming off it.
But yeah hopefully it will survive

So.. lesson learned.. nothing fast in reefing.. the only I did do, was change carbon. So I guess there was something in the water that bothered the zoa

If your lights just kicked on and they look like that, they’re good to go. No need to dip dip dip now.
