I realize they have some very good products, but the lowest price I can find is 650 bucks.
Are you kidding me ! Even to us fans, that is way too much money for ONE,......light.

I have their M1 return pump and got a little deal for $300 shipped, and love it so far.

I know,....it has all the bells, able to hook up to EcoSmart Live etc, but with the amount of coverage, I'd need 4 to 5 to cover my 125g, so the cost is an astounding,....$2,600 PLUS !

A friend that is a electronic wizzard and reefer, has taken apart the light and went through the system and said there's around $250 in the light.

They Definitely have the name factor and can charge any price they want, as people buy all their products. But really, come on, is the 650 bucks really worth it for one light ?

I know the lovers will chew me a new one, but be nice boys & girls.

Too bad only the wealthy,.... can afford their systems. Oh well.........

They have to make a significant profit plane and simple. I'm dealing with the same problem as I am planning a 220 and will most likely go T5 instead because of the price difference.

I'm surprised that they have $250 in there honestly. I would expect it to cost much less. You have to factor in R&D marketing distribution and support. I think unfortunately most people end up putting less modules than they need because of the cost: hopefully the rest of the market will follow and drive down cost a bit.

It's simply our free market system. If you don't like the price, there are plenty of other choices out there that will perform very similar, at a fraction of the cost.....but there are some that think more money is better. To each their own. I have Mars Aqua fixtures and would put them up against any light for growth.

The thing that gets to me is it's cool to charge that much but at least include some quality parts with it. The power supply is a $10 cheap Chinese special. At least throw in an IPxx rated Meanwell HLG or similar. Also don't tout high end but then have Cree diodes. Cree is cheap and decent, nothing more. If you are going to brag about diodes use Luxeons. Plus I doubt the Semiled violets are from the higher end bins. Last I checked the power connection to the light from power supply was a dc barrel connector? Has this changed? At least Kessil has the decency to use waterproof connectors for the power supply to light connection on the AP700.

You forgot to mention the $100 price tag on their mounts.... so you need to add a few more hundred to you total. I'm 101% sure I'll never own one.

The qualty T5 companys also, have high prices. The Giesemann Aurora 150w LED 4x39w T5 Hybrid Lighting Fixture is very,....nice, but $1,750 for a 36", and I'd need TWO,.......for my 125g. ! eek !!!
And also having to replace the t5's once or twice a year.

If I could keep the temp down without needing a chiller, I'd go with halides and supliment with either LED's or T5's.
I still, think that most corals do better with halides with a added blue source, and most of our eyes as well.
As of now, I don't think that any company produces a LED system that is better than halides with actinics.

I wonder if three 125 watt halides and T5's/LED's would not heat too much, yet grow all corals, including SPS's ?
I assume,...even with fans that three 250w halides would require a chiller ?

Back in the 90's I had 440 watts of VHO's that I used a 8" fan, and never went over 80 degrees.
I tried replacing two of the VHO's with a 175w halide and kept two blue's, but I retired from the hobby just a month later, so it wasn't enough time to test any results, but with the fan, it made no difference in temp's.

I'm with you here. I would need 3 for my 180, looking at $2500. Would love to see the mark up and what they make on these things......

One problem is, so many people are buying, that there's no reason to lower their prices.

I hear ya. It's a lot of scratch.
But let's look at another light. Old tech.. MH. With two led strips attached. I own this and run the 175w over my nano.

Now spec it out to be similar to the Radion. 400w, add the ballast, add the led strips, add the MH bulb.
Funny how that comes out to $10 more than the G4 which is supposed to cover the same area (although the MH probably covers more).
It has no fans, no controls, no color channels to play with, no website or mobile app... it's on or it's off.
How much in materials is in this ReefBrite?

Yeah, you can find lights A LOT cheaper. But considering what you are getting, is it really that far off base?
