Eshopps Eclipse S Overflow Box Leaking

Hi guys,

I recently plumbed an Eclipse S Overflow Box to a lowboy frag tank. After putting water through it, I have come to find there is a leak between the bulkhead and the glass. Any tips on how to stop the leak? It isn't fast, like a drop every couple minutes. So far I have it installed so the gasket is on the wet side of the tank and it is hand-tightened.

I would take it off and confirm it's all clean and no grit got in there and retighten. If still leaks then I may get out a pair of pliers and tighten a bit past "hand tighten". While you certainly don't want to go crazy tightening it I find sometimes a bit beyond "hand tight" works best.... Especially if it can be hard to get a good grip....or if you have weaker hands like apparently I do lol

Could use some silicone, but you will have to dry it out first.

You mentioned one gasket, but is there a second? There should be one between the tank and external box as well.

Kit only came with one gasket for the main bulkhead.

When you drilled, did you happen to chip the glass around the hole?

Unless they're doing something fancy with the threads and nut, that's not good

Without a gasket between the glass and external box, water can seep through the threads.

There are some chips around the hole outside of the tank.

Yes. Mine had two gaskets. BRS website also states two gaskets.

I think I know what you mean... the chips are on the dry side (exterior) as opposed to the wet side (interior). Correct?

Yep. Inside is smooth.

I'm surprised that you have a drip if the chip is on the outside. As has been previously mentioned, perhaps use a wrench and go a little beyond hand-tightened.

I emailed eshopps. I didn't realize there is supposed to be two as this is my first time plumbing a tank!

Yeah... this is really surprising. Bulkheads come with ONE gasket which is placed on the inside. But this is a little different. If you can't wait for Eshopps, you can get a gasket locally.
