So I have been fishless for 3 weeks and I just notice the other day that my skimmer pump was not working so removed skimmer and cl Abe’s and pump started working again but no my skimmer has hardly any bubbles and it is not collecting much skimmate so trying to determine if I need a new pump or is this result of being fishless. The skimmer just is not rising like it was before. Help me decide what is going on?

I just finished a two month fallow period. The first 3 weeks I noticed my skimmate & bubbles get noticeably less than normal. I started feeding the coral 2-3 times a week with mysis & reef chili to keep my bioload up a little. Have you tested your PO4 & NO3? They may be much lower than usual...(that is, if you’re not running a ULNS) my tank usually runs NO3 between 2-5 & PO4 between .02-.04. During the fallow period when I noticed my skimmer wasn’t working near as hard as it usually did. My levels were essentially undetectable.
