hi there.. With summer approaching and the weather will be warming up, I was wondering if anyone uses fans, specifically the aquarium cooling fans that you can buy on aliexpress. They come in a two, three or four fan version and clip mount to the top of the tank. Some you can adjust and tip.
I hate running a chiller and for $30-40 bucks.. This looks like a good option..

When I was running T5's I used a $10 clip-on desk fan from Walmart. Had it clipped onto my sump and directed it over the water surface. Worked great.

I second the Walmart fan. I have used them for over 20 years, they work wonders and surprisingly last for years.
When I was using MH and VHO lighting two 120mm computer fans, one in each end of my canopy, both blowing in with equal sized holes in the roof of the canopy above the fixtures and a clip on Walmart over the sump allowed me to stay at 78-79 degrees and sell my 1/4HP chiller.
Now with LEDs I don't use any fans but keep them in place and controlled by my RKL in case something goes wrong and the temp rises, they haven't run in about 5 years.

yea I use only fans(so far). I have two DC computer fans for slow blowing my t5 full time in the canopy.
For summer I have higher cfm output DC computer fans on my tanks connected to a temp controller.

I have four in my 55g standard and two smaller on the 30 cube. Hits 79.9 and the fans kick on.:D

the aquarium fans are mostly 12v DC too so you can use them. (http://www.amazon.com/Sanatop-Aquar...0945&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=aquarium+fan&psc=1) Is that the one you mean?

They also make an AC version of the controller you can plug a regular walmart fan into. Bit trickier DIY. But also Im working on getting all the AC off my Tank.

I have used Walmart clip on fans for awhile and they work amazing. Unfortunately my wife's cats shed like crazy in the summertime and they like to sit next to the tank so the fan would blow cat hair into the tank. Nothing more frustrating than coming home from work and having to untangle cat hair off the branches of SPS. So now I have a makeshift filter zip tied to the back of the fan.

I've Had this pc fan setup for years now. Blows air directly at the water and works great but also increases evap so keep that in mind. Have it set to come on along with one over my sump through my aqua controller.
