Not sure if this is in the right place or not... I went to the LFS tonight and grabbed two feather dusters. During the trip home one came out of its sheath the other was fine. I acclimated both and put them in the tank. The one that lost its sheath dug a hole and is completely under one of my rocks. Is this normal behavior for a feather duster?

It will make a new tube if it lives. I have read this many many times. I don't recall ever seeing a post by someone that has seen it happen.
I would say it burying itself is a very good sign.
Ok, I was just wondering because it didn't waste any time getting under that rock into a cave that my pistol shrimp made. Hopefully, it can make a new tube and come back out.

They can eject their top fan, leave the tube and swim. I don't suppose they would go to all that trouble if there was no chance to live afterward.
I recall one poster who's fan worm left the tube while still in the bag and he stuck it back in.

I have 3 different kinds in my tank now and have always found them beautiful and fascinating so I read all the posts about them.

I hope yours turn out great.

Thanks, me too. My daughter picked this one out because the fan was white and pink. She is 6 and was pretty upset when it went under the rock...lol
