My filter sock keeps overflowing on my new tank. It only takes about 2 days. Sock is not dirty. It will do it on brand new socks. Don't know if it has something to do with the way the sump is built. The sock is always halfway under water. I have never had a sock on my other tanks so I don't know what to change. Any ideas?

You need to either get a bigger sock or change them out more often. I change mine out every 2-3 days. Most say its a lot but I think it is worth it. Also, how do you clean them?

I use the bigger socks and change mine every 3-4 days. I have a large supply of them (like 20+) and when I get down to the last few I wash all of the dirty ones in the washing machine. One water wash, then a wash with hydrogen peroxide (Oxy Clean) and then a water wash and rinse cycle. They come out looking almost like new.

Also depends on what micron sock you use. I use 10 micron because I do Lanthanum Chloride dosing and change out 3 socks each morning.

I change out every 4 or 5 days and use 4"x12" socks. I have 4 and when 3 are dirty they go into the washer with some bleach. After a gentle wash cycle they sit in RO/DI water for 24 hours. It's just the nature of filter socks to need changed frequently and is definitely different for each tank.

sounds like it is doing it's job :). I also had the same issue with my old socks, so I now just use the filter sock thingy that comes in the GFO I buy. I clean is about once a week now.

This is why I have never used them. Think it is tine to build my sump and not use the store bought sumps. I am the sock basically last a day. I might just build a sump and not run one.
