Firefish with Worm?

Had the firefish for 3 weeks so far, two weeks up coppermine and a week of prazi. Still eats good and active swimmer in qt, would like some help with this one.

that's the only answer i've seen online, nobody seems to know what the worm is called. i just fear pulling the worm and the worm not letting go of the fish's insides, whether that kills him sooner or a bacterial infection gets to em later.

Darn. Then as far as I know that leaves you with dosing a bit of PraziPro in the reef tank. Try not to overdose.

Not sure how it will work in saltwater but for hard to clear worms I’ve used levamisole with freshwater fish. You can either get close to pure levamisole powder online or go to a farm supply place and get a product called prohibit which is a cattle dewormer and is like 90% levamisole. I used it to clear up some camallanus worms on some oscars. Just be sure to look online for dosages and best of luck if you use it and use it carefully it is potent.

update, 6 min freshwater dip and a tug at the worm with tweezers. worm did not come out, checked back on the tank later and the worm was no longer in the fish and was at the bottom of the tank.

took it out the tank it's dead, but a new worm appeared or it's like the same worm but it's leaving the body? a marine biologist at a store wasn't able to identify the worm

May be time for a 6 lined or lunare wrasse that will eat them

While in gills, likely not but if you saw another, there may be more

had him in qt for over a month, i took out the worm after he fell out the gills.

So I just lost a purple fire fish to this same parasite....whatever this thing is, they’re killers for sure. I pulled the worm off the fire fish when I found the fish dead.

by internet knowledge they are common for firefish to have but i've had two marine biologists tell me they had no idea what the worm was, and one of them went to school for marine parasites... so much ocean, so much not known i guess

Firefish are hands down the hardest “easy” fish I’ve ever seen.
