Hello everyone ! I am new to this forum and the hobby as well. I’ve been googling all my questions and every time a reef forum pops up in my search results so I thought hey might as well make an account. I am very very new to this hobby. I’ve had a 60 gallon and 10 gallon fresh water tank back in 2006 with community fish and fake decor. Never grew any live plants or bred anything. A lot has changed in the aquarium world as I’ve found out through basic research. Anyways let me just get to it already haha. Birthday just passed recently and as a gift I was given a 36 gallon acrylic bow front tank and a 5 rectangular tank. Neither have lids or lighting. I have a Marineland c-220 canister filter for the bow front. I have 2 heaters one 25w and the other 150watt both Marineland brand. I have chemi pure blue packs and water floss I was planning to use for the 5 gallon. Saltwater testing kit on the way with thermometers and refractometer. I plan on doing saltwater on both tanks. I would like to grow corals and in both and house some fish in both of them. I plan on getting live rock and live sand. I have 50 gallons of rodi water standby waiting to be mixed with salt as soon as my test kit arrives. I have no lighting would love recommendations on lighting for both tanks along with protein skimmers if needed? Wondering if I need a wavemaker and if so what brand and model? What type of fish and coral should I start off with if any? Basically I’m looking for someone to tell me if I’m headed in the right direction and if not to steer me the right way. Which salt to get, which live sand to get etc Anything and everything would be greatly appreciated Thank you all.
