Just came back from Chicago, got a new 1.5" yellow coris wrasse.

My helfishi is over 1.5 years old in the tank and now it's dead its fins are all frayed and the coris is the only one who could've done this.

Has anyone heard of a yellow coris being aggressive to tank mates?

My favorite fish is now dead. He used to dart in and out of his home such personality. I would flash a light in his cave and he'd know to come out for food.

I want to now kill this yellow coris. Son of a...

It's certainly possible although somewhat atypical. What other tankmates?

A fire fish is similar in shape to a wrasse so conflict is always possible. How large is the tank?

40 gal Nuvo all rest of tank mates have been in the tank the same time as the fire fish :( no other possibility

Doesn't mean they can't decide to lose it. I've had fish for years that decided to no longer get along. Not saying the wrasse didn't do it - it's definitely possible - I've also kept wrasse with fire fish without any issue (4 fire fish and say 12 wrasse at the time)

Usually yellow coris wrasses are quite peaceful, especially when they are small. Also, when a fish is new they are generally more timid, not more aggressive. However, there are always exceptions.

Something else to be aware of, is some pathogens will leave a fsh with tattered and torn fins.
