I am setting up a QT tank to get some fish in QT while my display tank cycles.

QT tank is a 20 long with aquaclear 30 hob with biomax media and sponge

I added Dr. Tims One & Only a few days ago with the ammonia drops and I am starting too see the ammonia drop and nitrites rise.

The normal Dr. Tim's program has several rounds of adding ammonia. Is this required for a QT tank or am I good to add fish after the initial dose of ammonia (and nitrite) drop and then just monitor and do WC as necessary?

I would continue to cycle the tank as it would be your DT. I would even continue to “feed” the system once it has completely cycled. In a QT you might get some big fish with diseases (ich,...), one part of treating the fish is boosting its immunity by reducing stress on the fish. As your fish will be stressed by being in the QT, the last thing you want is the QT not being able to cope with the bioload(from the first day on) and introduce some ammonia to the system.
