Flame angel dying

For some reason Flame Angels are not as hardy, that or they are not handled very well as in the past. In trying to create a pair I lost several at 1 to 3 weeks in QT. I finally went with two collected from Vanuatu. They are now happy and distributing eggs through out my tank.

probably internal parasite. fish dont usually shy away and hide and stop eating unless sick. hard to say what exactly caused the degrading of health. if fish passes away you can place in freshwater to see if any worms come out.

How long should the fish sit in fresh water?

5 minutes would allow the flukes to dislodge if they were present.

I’m not really sure what I’m looking for any ideas from the pics and that brown dot on top was never there when I got him any ideas what that is

I know you know that. I was referring to a different comment. See the comment that reply was to?

Sorry wasn't trying to cause confusion.

Does anyone have an idea on how the fish died from the pictures i provided or is it a mystery?

Flame angels are immensely sensitive to ammonia (new tank syndrome) and lower oxygen conditions. Do you have a powerhead or sump/skimmer? How long has your tank been set up?

Some strains of velvet also impact angels in particular by killing them via gill damage before you see spots on the fish. Lethargic behavior, hiding from light, loss of color, sudden loss of appetite are however often witnessed in these casss. They may also swim in to what flow you do have.

Flames are very unforgiving with regard to ammonia and lower oxygen conditions they’re not an ideal fish for a tank newer than 6 months old.

I do have 2 power heads alternating 12 hours as well as a sump and skimmer and the tank has been up for 3 months.
