New here, just set up my first saltwater tank. I have a nuvo 40 fusion with a sicce 2.0 return pump....theres a dial on the pump to adjust flow, what do you guys run yours at? Full open, half way? I feel that full open is too much flow but I could be wrong.

I also have a nero 5 powerhead that I have at random flows ranging from 5-20%....
My sand bed doesnt get moved but you can see the particles in the water moving really fast....

Thank you in advance

I would start at mid opening and adjust either up or down but would not blast current in a minimal space. Sicce is a great pump and will fo the job

I had 2 mp10’s and the Sicce 2 pump. My pump was set to full. The MP10’s were attached to my Apex controller, so they had random cycles throughout the day. My 40 was a mixed reef..

Both mp10s were closer to the top [emoji4]

Just FWIW I have a mixed reef 34g deep blue. It has a sicce 2.0 return, MP10, tunze 6040, and two reefbreeders RP-M (like mp40) - they all running pulse mode above 50% power. I would run even more flow if it wasn't a mixed reef with LPS in there.

I like a lot of flow and try to be careful in placing corals in areas with appropriate flow rates. IME, you can have both: good water/gas exchange and optimal conditions for different species of corals by carefully mapping out their placement. Good luck.

what type of coral do you have. they are different and like different flow

Depends on the corals you have but I beleive its more important that the main flow comes from powerheads as opposed to the main filter pump. I'd start it half way and maybe go 3/4 at most.
